Kobo Vox Price War

You'll know I periodically monitor the prices of the various eReaders in the UK, principally the main players which, in my opinion, are the Amazon Kindle and Kobo products, especially the Vox which, in the absence of the Kindle Fire reaching these shores any time soon, is the closest we can get over here.

Well, it's looking like a bit of price movement is taking place right now on the Kobo Vox.  At WH Smith, the retailer that led with the launch of the Kobo devices late last year the price of the Vox remains at £149.99, where it has sat for several months.  If you check out the WH Smith web page you'll see they are suggesting that the price is reduced from £169.99, but it hasn't been that high for nearly six months.

However, over at Play, who are owned by Kobo's owner, Rakuten, they have dropped the price down to £145.98.  They've also  dropped the free micro SD card they were offering recently unfortunately, but this is the lowest they've offered the device so far to my knowledge.

But the real bargain is to be found at Asda, the UK arm of Wal-Mart because they are offering the Vox at £139, which is the most competitive I've seen the device priced at since it was launched in the UK.  Unfortunately it also appears to be out of stock at the moment, but if you're in the market for a Kobo Vox, live in the UK and are prepared to wait a little while it may be worth bookmarking the Asda page and visiting it on a regular basis.  or you can register for Asda to email you when they get stock in.  Good luck.

Don't forget the Smashwords Sale where my books are available this month (July 2012) at half price as long as you use the correct code at checkout (SSW50)
